The Kind Soup Care Score
KS1 means occasional help.
Mostly independent. You are watching, prompting and worrying rather than doing.
What somebody at KS1 is doing
If somebody told you this is their number, this is roughly what their week looks like.
- They keep an eye on someone who is mostly independent.
- Prompting, checking in, noticing things. Little hands-on help.
- Their own week still belongs to them.
It measures the work, not the illness
The Care Score is 1 to 10 for how much care somebody is actually giving. Two people looking after someone with the same diagnosis can be at KS3 and KS9, because what separates them is hours, nights, whether the person can be left, and whether anyone else helps.
KS0 is reserved for people who cared for somebody until they died. It is not a diagnosis and it is not medical advice.
